At present the PhD programme lasts four years - the maximum period for such a programme normally allowed by Polish law (limited additional time is permitted for students interrupting their studies for various reasons). In terms of classes part time students attend the same seminars and have the same responsibilities as full time participants of the PhD programme, however their timetable is more flexible.

During the four years of the PhD programme students are expected to collect at least 60 credit points by taking courses (6 credits will be awarded per 30 hour course) and 20 additional credit points.

Students are expected to attend at least one seminar during the semester.

Additional credit points may be gained:

• by publications and/or;
• by teaching activities and/or;
• by attending conferences and summer schools and/or;
• by taking additional courses within the GSSR.
