GSSR

GSSR recognizes that all persons – students, candidates, faculty, staff, visiting scholars, alumni – require equal opportunities and fair treatment, free from all forms of discrimination based on gender, gender identity and gender expression, race, nationality, ethnicity, age, marital or parental status, disability, sexual orientation, religion, political belief or social origin. Freedom from discrimination is ensured by Polish law and European Union law.

We take our community’s well-being seriously and are dedicated to building a culture of inclusivity and respect. PhD students with disabilities may apply to GSSR’s director for support during the education process and with the implementation of scientific activities. If any person in the GSSR community is exposed to unlawful discrimination or harassment, there are procedures in place to deal with such complaints. In case of any misconduct, students should immediately report it to GSSR administration and seek advice from the school governance.

(Full text available here)

Acting in accordance also with the Gender Equality Plan that IFiS PAN adopted on March 27, 2023, the Director of GSSR undertakes to pursue gender equality among instructors best-qualified to teach GSSR courses in Philosophy and Sociology, and promote teaching cooperation of faculty across gender categories and levels of academic career. Possible mechanisms to implement GSSR gender balance and teaching cooperation policies for doctoral-level course instruction in Philosophy and Sociology are outlined in the document, “PhD-level courses in Philosophy and Sociology at GSSR: Mechanisms for selecting instructors and promoting teaching opportunities.” This document, discussed with IFiS’ Committee for Gender Equality and presented to GSSR’s Doctoral School’s Council, is available from the GSSR administration office.

The director of GSSR declares further collaboration with IFiS’ Committee for Gender Equality – and seeks cooperation with similar committees at IP PAN and IPS PAN – on mechanisms of implementing gender balance among GSSR instructors.
